Sharing a few images on the blog today from our recent vacation to my most favorite place on planet Earth… Sanibel Island, Florida. This special island holds so many special memories for me. It’s filled with nostalgia of all of my summer trips here from my childhood. My family has been traveling here each summer ever since I was 2. Some years we just came for a long weekend, other years we came for a week or more…. and now as an adult, I carry on this tradition with my own family.
People often ask what I love most about Sanibel… for me it’s truly one of the only places I can come and relax. I love that it’s quiet and calm… the Gulf of Mexico is absolutely gorgeous and the waters are not rough… we find amazing shells & sea creatures to explore…. and it’s not built-up with huge condo buildings everywhere…. I think the tallest building on the island is 3 stories. It’s quaint with mom & pop restaurants… you won’t see a McDonalds or Target on the island… but there is a Dairy Queen… which is the place to be! (DQ Blizzards are a Sanibel Tradition!).
I love all of the stores from my childhood are still there & thriving – like She Sells Sea Shells & Jerry’s where you can see all the birds! I love that my family has been visiting the Bubble Room on Captiva for 30+ years and we can still visit there today. I love those memories from my childhood and that I am sharing them with my own kids. Here are a few more of my favorite snaps from this trip. Most from my Canon 5d mark iv but some from my iPhone 11 Pro.
